Oh happy days! We started to pack for our excursion to Machu Picchu this morning, and I found my missing jewellery in the hidden pocket of my other carry on bag!!!!!! So so relieved. I had emptied that bag 3 times, (it houses our extra cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, etc.) when we were up ending the room. Today, this little side pocket was more noticeable, as I was packing, and there was my missing bag. I feel terrible about the poor people who have been under suspicion of theft in Florida, but we promptly wrote letters to the police, and everyone else apologizing.
We also were able to Face Time with two of our children today - and one small grand daughter, who seemed shy and reluctant to talk to me. Seems everyone at home has the flu as well. My belief is the unusually warm weather has something to do with it. It is a bad flu season.
We are packed to leave in Callao, Peru when we arrive tomorrow morning. We will be gone from the ship for 3 days. Day 1 we fly to Cusco, at 11,000 ft above sea level, overnight, then Day 2 take the train down to Machu Picchu at 8,000 ft. where we will spend the entire day with our own private guide. Barry is worried about me with the altitude, as I am not able to take special altitude sickness prevention medicine, like he is. I plan on drinking plenty of cocoa tea, and sniffing bottles of oxygen. Day 3 we fly from Cusco to Lima, then drive to General San Martin, Peru to rejoin the ship. So we will not be posting until we are back in business on the Amsterdam. We are really excited about seeing this ancient Inca site, which was discovered last century. Can't wait to tell you our impressions.
Karen invited us to The Pinnacle for lunch today, and we had 5 Onion Soup (amazingly delicious), and 2 small crab cakes, and fresh strawberries and raspberry sorbet. Barry took a picture of the dessert so you would have something to look at!
I'll be back in a few days.
What a wonderful surprise (This is the second time I have read your blog, and I sailed right past your good news the first time).
