Our friend Leslie has been under the weather. Nothing serious though. The first big news is that Barry attended his first Tai Chi class. Kathy, the Tai Chi Master, was on the World Cruise last year and sat down to have lunch with us. After speaking about her classes, Barry decided to plunge in to the Beginners Class. I am delighted as I have been trying to persuade him to come to the gym as I don't think walking is enough exercise for either of us. He liked it. Kathy is also such an interesting person. She was born in Shanghai China, and suffered through the Cultural Revolution. She is now a U.S. citizen, retired from IBM. Last year she shared with me that she made a personal proposal to Lou Gerstner when he announced IBM was opening in China, to help with that effort and she was handed the job. She is a very capable person, and I am delighted to see her again this year.
The second big news is that I had a hair appointment this afternoon, with Violetta who did my hair last year and this, and she persuaded me (pleaded really) to change my hair colour to my natural colour and throw away my outdated highlights. She also gave me a great new cut, but kept the length. Judging from all the positive comments this was a good decision and several women asked me who did my hair as they would like to get her to do theirs too! Apparently I look younger as Widi, a waiter in the Lido came up to Barry at dinner and asked him quietly if I was his wife, because he thought I looked so young! I will take any compliments I can get in that direction. The only thing is that it is a shock when I look at myself in the mirror because I don't recognize myself. So don't be shocked when you see the new me in the pictures for the second half of the cruise.
We suffered through a woman comedian, from the UK who had some corny dated jokes and went to bed, ready for Ujung Padang.
