We are still at sea in the Indian Ocean which is amazing to me for we have been in these waters for a few weeks. What a vast planet we have. Back to exercise on Friday - yoga, followed by acupuncture, then basic unpacking, and tidying up. We are making plans for 3 days in Cape Town, and so we have also been emailing our friends Max and Mal, who are already there. Today is Appreciation Day , for all the friends and relationships we have made on the cruise. It is also a formal night, and the crew have prepared a dessert extravaganza that took them 50 hours to prepare. It was set up on 3 floors in the Atrium after the first show. The 8 pm. show featured the Soweto String Quartet. These men consist of 2 violins, 1 viola, and 1 cello. They played so many pieces, including some of Paul SImon's from his Graceland album, which was inspired by the music of South Africa. They have performed with him in New York.
Then we went to the Desserts - and took pictures for 30 minutes, before they were served. What a show that was! My word, the craft and talent of this crew. No one could possibly eat all this, and we all sampled as much as we felt able to do intelligently, and sat talking with Art, having a great evening.
Today it was spin and personal training and spin class was really tough. We rode 14 miles and burned 101 fat calories out of 800 calories burned. I was really wiped, but had to turn to personal training for another hour. Kristina said she can really see big changes since I began, in my strength and stamina. That is motivating, especially on a day, when it feels like a big struggle. There were only 3 of us in the class, and we do cheer one another on for sure.
I had fallen seriously behind on blogging, so my afternoon was consumed with catching up. Tonight we have Friso, Jonathan's Second in Command, and his girlfriend Jennifer and her mother as guests at our table, as Friso is leaving the ship in Cape Town. The seas are rougher than they have been - really just big swells.
