We spent the sea days in our usual way, with me doing personal training and spinning to start, then meeting our gang for lunch, talk and lectures in the afternoon. Two stand out events included a formal evening on Saturday where we had a great evening with Mal, Max and Leslie, followed by the HAL group of entertainers doing their Pop songs, and on Sunday afternoon our Philippino Crew show packed the house. The latter was truly a tremendous show, which showcased both traditional and modern themes and featured extremely talented crew who sang amazing solos, or danced. They got a standing ovation well deserved. Our wine steward Teo, who has been a sparkling delight every evening had two starring roles and we applauded loudly for him.
This is the perfect time to sing the praises of the crew on the Ms Amsterdam. Every person is hand selected for this World Cruise and we love the fact that HAL refers to them as "Precious Crew", for that is exactly what they are. Most of them are from Indonesia and the Philippines, and some from Holland. Most of them are on contracts of 9 months, and they leave their families to provide them with a better quality of life, but sacrifice being at home with their children. Every day we are spoiled completely by the courtesy, attention to detail, and service which is always delivered by their happy smiling ways. For us there are a few who deserve honourable mention: Teo, Ellie and Widi (Lido Dining Room) Kristina ( my personal trainer from the U.S.), Bahar and Husne (our room stewards), Andy and Alan (in the Queen's Lounge), and Anung and Eko (our dining room stewards). These people have made our trip even more memorable and we are so appreciative of their daily kindness and care and as with any trip of this length, we have gotten to know them and will miss them when we return home.
